It is worthwhile to exploit patent information
Small and medium-sized companies in Finland are not adequately aware of possibilities of utilizing information available in patent publications. This was one of the results obtained in a survey recently published by VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland) and NBPR (National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland). The survey indicated that every third patent application is dismissed in Finland because it concerns an invention already published by somebody else.
Information available in patent publications
Published patents and applications form a comprehensive and constantly expanding source of technical and scientific information. They contain information about e.g. research results, developed products, production methods and markets. By making a state of the art search when starting a new project one could avoid overlapping research and useless investments. At the same time, potential production obstacles can be identified. A novelty search is needed also when considering protection of the product of the work.
Professionals in making searches
The patent attorneys of Forssén & Salomaa Oy will be happy to serve you in all matters related to protection of an invention.
